27th of Flamerule: cont

Chapter 1:  Evening on the Hond Ebrath


(Dinner is prepared and eaten)


The group gathers on the new hanging couches to listen to Sorrow play for awhile.   We are sailing back to Saltmarsh during the night.


Atalaya makes 20 Goodberries

28th of Flamerule

Chapter 2:  Morning    


When everyone wakes up we are docked in Saltmarsh.  Atalaya has been on watch.  We are docked next to a sloop that had pulled up and docked next to us during the night.  (Sloop:  a smaller ship with a single sail.)


Atalaya watches as a dark skinned man with dread locks walks around on the deck all night.  Atalaya continues to keep watch.


Cirilli is helping Vasilya to make breakfast.  Inman looks bleary eyed in the morning.  


Inman and Nevil need coffee.  Sorrow sleeps in.  He is not a morning person.


Once all of the crew is awake and on deck Atalaya goes down to the common area for breakfast.


We eat breakfast and drink coffee.  Sorrow eventually joins us. 


Nevil calls Sorrow over.  She asks if it will cause an issue if she makes holy water.  Sorrow says he doesn’t know if it will be a problem.  Nevil responds by saying, “Just let me know if it causes you a problem.”


Boz, Nevil and Atalaya  discuss returning the dagger.  Nevil is concerned with giving the dagger to the constabulary.  She wants to know if they commonly deal with such things.


After breakfast and clean up we go on deck.  The sloop is still there and the guy with the dreadlocks is staring at our ship.


Nevil call out to the guy with the dreadlocks.  As she does a second guy come on the sloop’s deck.


Nevil: ______________________________________


Guy:  …need to talk to you about something you have.”  The two guys look to be identical twins and are both wearing colorful robes.  They look to be 35-40 years old.  


They both come on board.  Their names are Arla and Bengi Carmaelo.  We talk with them.  They want the Statue of St. Cuthbert back.  


Nevil is very defensive with them and makes them prove they are devotees of Cuthbert.  They do.


We decide that we will let them have the statue for the price that Zandros is offering for it.  They must also take the pamphlets (Common Sense).  We tell them that we will have the bones of the clerics buried.  Atalaya shakes hands agreeing not to sell the statue to Zandros until after they get back to us.


Chapter 3:  At the Constabulary Office


Nevil, Inman and Atalaya go to see Captain Eliander.  Vasilya declines going.  We see the usual guards as we approach their building.


Nevil and Atalaya talk with Eliander in his office.  We show him the dagger.  He doesn’t know how to destroy it.  He was going to talk to Father Brinehanded if it was recovered.


We say that we will take the dagger to Father Brinehanded ourselves.  We want to be certain that it is destroyed.


Captain Eliander agrees and pays us the 300 gp he promised for the retrieval of the dagger.


As Atalaya goes to return the dagger to the bag of holding she becomes paralyzed.  Nevil uses a pressure point to make her drop the dagger.  The captain moves her into a chair.


Nevil cannot heal her paralysis.  Inman is very concerned. 


Nevil, hoping Atalaya can hear her, says, “We are going to take you to Father Brinehanded.”


Nevil sends Inman ahead to Father Brinehanded.  


Captain Eliander gets a wagon to use to get Atalaya to the Temple of Procan.  Captain Eliander, himself, drives the wagon to the Temple of Procan.  The temple is a weathered wooden structure with a bell tower.


Chapter 4:  At the Procan Temple


Captain Eliander and Nevil carry Atalaya into the temple.  Father Brinehanded tells them to put Atalaya on a pew.


He is able to stop the paralysis effect on Atalaya.  We talk to him about what we did on the Marshall, about the dagger and finding the ghosts of the clerics of St. Cuthbert and promising to get their bones and the bones of the other clerics appropriately interred.  He tells us that the cemetery is for any who were sailors and for those lost at sea.  He agrees to give the bones a proper burial.  We give him the bones.


He is able to break the dagger in a manner to break its magical properties.  


When we leave the temple we head into town to buy supplies and other desired items.


We stop at Kester’s Leather Goods (the tannery) to get a vambrace.  The young lady who is working there is Kiorna Kester.  Atalaya is able to buy a nice embrace for 2 gp.  Kiorna tells us that she will buy exotic leathers.  Looking around the shop, Atalaya can tell that she is very skilled.  Her work is very nice.  


At the apothecary Nevil buys some vials.


We continue to shop for “extra” supplies like teas, wine and nice cheeses etc.  (Annie is in charge of shopping for general supplies from the list given to her for the ship.)

Chapter 5:   Picnic in the Woods


Once the shopping is finished Nevil decides that Atalaya needs to spend some time in a forest before we start our ocean trip.  She suggests a lunch picnic.  We stop by an inn and pick up some food and the ship to get Vaz.  (Cirilli is visiting her friends at the Greenleaf Estate.)  


Nevil had convinced Atalaya earlier in the morning that she was going to have to tell Boz about having been paralyzed by the dagger.  Atalaya had reluctantly agreed.


After eating and consuming some of the wine, Atalaya does tell Vasilya about the morning incident.  He is understandably upset by the news and must be reassured that she is alright.


Talk evolves to other things with Nevil and Inman learning more about the journey to White Plume Mountain… about the three weapons we acquired there, about them being kept in the vault with Avalon guarding them and the true nature of the Avalon (that he is a Spectator (smaller beholder like monster) that we befriended).


Nevil is not happy with the idea of having Avalon as a guard.  She thinks that it should be returned to its own plane of existence.  


We talk about some of the other adventures that we have been on that have not been discussed yet.


We talk about Vasilya’s visions, the effect of the bite in the Mine in Riverport.


Nevil wonders if using the blue powder would assist him with his visions.


We talked a little about the attempt by the Red Wizards to use Floshin Estate as a portal hub.  


Nevil and Inman wander off to have a private conversation and Atalaya finds a tree to climb to talk to Vaz.  See the 28th of Flamerule Missing Scenes page for these.


Chapter 6:  At the Greenleaf’s with Seraphina


As the afternoon ends we go to the Greenleaf estate to collect Cirilli and to talk with the family there.


Tale to Seraphina (Poppy).  Nevil thanks her for sending her here and for sending Inman.  And then proceeds to fuss at her about doing that.


Atalaya asks Seraphina some questions.  She tells Atalaya that, yes, she knew Master Elaria and Ailwin and worked with them.  Atalaya tells her that when all this is done she wants to have a long talk with her.  Seraphina agrees.


Atalaya does thank Seraphina for sending Nevil and Inman.  Seraphina says that she thought we needed them.  Atalaya agrees and says that she also needs the friendship and she and Nevil are developing.  Seraphina looks really smug when she hears this.


We discuss with Seraphina just how “hot” Nevil and Magrim are right now.  


We return to the ship.


Atalaya makes 28 Goodberries.


We keep watch with the crew.  Sorrow has the first watch and Atalaya finishes out the night.  



29th of Flamerule


Chapter 7:  Morning on the Hond Ebrath


During the morning the twins return with a wagon.  We use the ship's block and tackle to get the statue onto their wagon.  We also give them all the St. Cuthbert pamphlets but keep the waterproof crates they were in.  They pay us.   (how much????)


Vasilya is very worried about Captain Zandros finding out that we didn’t sell her the statue.
