Chapter 1: Merfolk
We hear faint voices talking upstairs from us in either infernal or abyssal. We stealth our way up the broken down staircase. In the murky water we see three figures standing in a triangle–walking in a loose circle chanting to the kraken god. One is a merefolk, the other two are weird humanoid creatures–oceanic abominations. In the corner we can see a large stone table carved to look like a kraken. It is covered in runes. There is a huge hole in the wall.
We start having a feeling, an urge coming over us. Our hands feel like rocks and we want to pray to the kraken god. We really want to start praying.
Nevil wants to take them out. Atalaya nods her permission.
Nevil dives into it, going after the nearest humanoid. She is dual welding and on her first attack makes two strikes at the creature. First is a critical hit, 9 points damage and misses her second strike. On her second attack both strikes hit. She does 7 points of damage and then 4 more points of damage. (total for the whole attack is 20 points damage.) Nevil does not think that the creature looks as damaged as it should following her attack. The creature wheels on Nevil and hisses. He is bleeding a little bit.
Atalaya: shoots two magic arrows at a creature for a total of 24 points of damage. The creature seems hurt.
Scary Merperson (Scion): It opens its mouth and a horrifying ear piercing screech comes out of it. Nevil and Atalaya are able to shake off the fear effect of the screeching. Boz’s face turns white and he falls back a little. He is “frightened”: He cant move closer to the creature, is disadvantaged on attacks and ability checks.
Boz: Critical failure on his attack
Nevil: Casts Bless (extra 1d4 to attack rolls and saving throws).
In the middle of the three of us a black tentacle burst out of the floor. It fills a 20 foot square area of space. Boz dodges the tentacle and takes no damage from it. Nevil just makes her save.
Humanoid 1: hits Neivl causing 25 points of thunder damage.
Atalaya: Shoots two arrows into the tentacle. They appear to have no effect on it.
Merperson (Scion) Zips over to Atalaya and claws and then comes at her with its teeth. Atalaya takes 13 points of damage.
Boz: Barely misses the Merperson. Fumbles with…
Nevil: Wacks at humanoid. Critical success. She makes a total of 2 multiattacks for a total of 35 points of damage. He is hurt.
Tentacles: Attempts to grab Nevil, but is not able to do so.
Humanoid 1: Targets Boz. Barks in abyssal, points a finger and says, “COME!” Boz takes a step towards it, and then stops.
Humanoid 2: Continue to fight Nevil. Looks at Nevil and says, “HALT!” Nevil feels her feet freeze for a second and then shrugs it off.
Atalaya: attacks the merperson with her longsword, 2 attacks. Both hit. The Merperson screeches, disengages and swims off towards the wall.
Boz: Shots the Humanoid 1 for 7 points of damage. The fear effect on him dissipates when the merperson swims off.
Nevil: continues to attack Humanoid 2. First attack, swing 1 hits for 7 points of damage. Swing 2 hits for 9 points of damage. Second attack: Swing 1 hits for 6 points of damage and swing 2 hits for 5 points of damage. The attacks are a flurry of blades which kills the creature, cutting off its arms. The is a cloud of grossness around the corpse and Nevil. Nevil tries to move away from the tentacle. She is able to do that and moves towards Humanoid 1.
Atalaya: Shoots 2 arrows. Both hit for a total of 22 points of damage. She swims 45 feet.
Boz: Moves 5 feet within range of Atalaya. Kills humanoid 1 with his shortbow.
With no sign of the merperson returning, the group investigates the stone table. It is covered in runes. The runes seem to be a long prayer written in abyssal to Vaalastroth.
They find the following: (W7I)
Silver chalice (put in the bag of holding)
Scattered gems
A clay flask… a potion container?
6 gems
Obsidian dagger– a ritual dagger that has a tentacle motif on it.
Rusty iron flask with shield with thin potion, not a healing potion which was in the robes of the priest.
Gold statue of a kraken (small item)
The merperson didn’t look as human (as Gali?). It had more and longer teeth and was more beastial in appearance.
We check the area where the merperson disappeared. We see rocks and more ruins.
Chapter 2: The Search Continues
We continue searching. (W7H/random treasure) The is a half rotted bag in the rubble. In that we find:
a stoppered clay bottle
Ring with the Symbol of Procan
Gold vestments, priestly
Silver holy symbol of Procan.
Room full of fish… quippers feeding on dead octopi.
Swim out from the broken area of the building and are outside the temple building.
At one point we see a mud creature lopping in the sand, wandering aimlessly.. No focus.
The area we are in might at one time have been a courtyard. To the north some pavement can be seen.
Six cracked stone benches, an altar to Procan. We see some dead skeletons, tattered robes, they may have been priests. They are wearing the holy symbols of Procan.
On the altar there is a moss agate gem (we pick this up and place in bag of holding.
Chapter 3: The Altar to Erythnul
We come to a locked door and Boz investigates. He opens the door and we see the skeletal remains of lots of beasts. (Not sea beasts). There is an altar to Erythnul (the god of hate). It is a big altar made of bones. We see weapons resting on it.
Nevil checks the atar. It radiates EVIL to her senses. Boz waves the algea aside and sees something gleaming there. The room has a pall of bad things happening there. Boz investigates the gleaming item. It looks like a silver weapon that has been laid on the altar. He motions us over. Nevil picks up the weapon. It is a morningstar ( a club with a heavy spiked head, sometimes attached to the handle by a chain.)
The weapon feels good in Nevil’s hand. It is in good shape, untouched by the water. Nevil, getting no bad feeling from the morningstar and senses it is a special sort of thing, takes it and keeps it.
Boz moves to the next door (2nd on left) and investigates it and open it. He sees a swarm of octopi and closes the door.
Chapter 4: Giant Crabs!
We continue to explore. Entering a room it seems like it was someones. Atalaya notices an outline of something in the wall. It looks like a hidden compartment. Vasilya checks and opens it. Inside there is a rusty symbol of Erythnul. The iron is very rusty. Nevil takes it and crushes it.
We find a chipped statue of Procan with a trident. Big fish tank. Kelp is growing out of the fishtank. There is a mosaic of Prcan’s holy trident and…
The kelp starts moving and rustling. Four crabs scuttle out. Four BIG crabs. One of these (Tiffany) pounces onto Vasilya, and latches on to his pants leg.
Nevil attacks Tiffany with dual shortswords causing 5 points and 4 points of Damage.
Atalaya shoots 3 arrows at 3 crabs. All hit. For 7 points, 12 points and 10 points of damage.
The crab, Nate, goes after Nevil causing her 7 points of damage to her ankle.
Crab, Bong Water(?), attacks Nevil causing 6 points of damage.
Boz: Kill Tiffany with his shortsword and moves up to Bong
Atalaya shoots 3 arrows again, killing last three crabs. She recovers her arrows. The crabs are gathered and taken with us. There is nothing else in this room.
Chapter 5: Return to the Surface
We return to the surface and make our way to the beach. Nevil heals herself for 10 points.
We build a fire to warm ourselves and take a short rest. We cook one of the large crabs to snack on.
