Chapter 1: Salt Marsh
We ask Cirilli if she wants to stay with the Greenleafs or leave with us. She looks torn and asks where we are going.
Nevil says that we are going to Riverport to see people. And that she really doesn’t want them to be able to identify Cirilli.
Cirilli thinks about it and is really conflicted. She both wants to stay with the Greenleafs and to be able to spend time with her friends but she also doesn’t want us “doing anything without her.” She seems worried that we will go off and do something without her.
Atalaya explains the current plan.
Nevil also talks about this and makes a pinkie promise with her that she will not be left out of any major tasks.
Cirilli decides to stay and visit with the Greenleafs but we have to come get her before having any adventures.
Cirdan again talks about coming out of retirement and asks us to return to the manor after talking with the folks in Riverport and finding out if they will have him as a part of their plans.
Chapter 2: Riverport: Afternoon and Evening
Saying our goodbyes and promising Cirilli again that we will return for her, we teleport to the animal pen area in front of the Green Goblin in Riverport. We are greeted by a very excited BlueBell. She actually squeals when we come in.
After greeting everyone there we order a lunch. Atalaay gets the chicken stew that is the lunch and dinner special today. The rest of us (Vaz, Nevil, Inman and Sorrow) order.
With the meal comes the information that Tif and Grenda have been coming and going from Riverport. Atalaya asks about Seraphina and is told that she is here with Joan.
Aristotle leaves the kitchen to come and greet everyone. He asks if “Joanie” has a man. Atalaya gets silent and looks at the boys. Sorrow answers that Joan “does not have a man” the last time we were with her.
Aristotle looks pleased to hear this.
Our food eventually arrives. Bluebell asks Sorrow if he will play for them. Nevil wants to know when. Sorrow says that he will after he eats. Bluebell says that she misses hearing him play.
After we finish the meal Sorrow plays several things, catering to songs that he thinks Bluebell will like.
Atalaya in an aside explains to Nevil about Bluebell, Tif and the band.
There is no charge for the lunch.
Afterwards we head to The Lady Luck, looking for Heralds, Curan or any of that group and hoping to find out where we can meet up with Seraphina and Joan.
The puppy Timothy is outside The Lady Luck and Atalaya stops to greet him. Sorrow is also very happy to see the puppy.
The halfling, Curan, (a priest of Tamora, the goddess of luck) comes out of the tavern. He recognizes Boz, Atalaya and Sorrow and greets us.
When asked he says that Sir Isteval, Sir Darfin, Kelson will be at the tavern for dinner. We tell him that we will come back then because we would like to speak with them. Curan looks thoughtful as we leave.
We take Inman and Nevil to Val’s shoppe to pick up some extra healing potions. We buy 10 regular healing potions for 350 gp. (Val has given us a discount)
Then we head to the fletcher who sells magiked arrows so that Atalaya can replace some of hers. She buys three +2 arrows at 100 gp each for a total of 300 gp.
We head back to the Green Goblin to spend time there until it is time to go to The Lady Luck. When we get there Seraphina and Joan are there. There is a joyous reunion with Sorrow running up and giving Joan a huge hug. Joan picks him up while returning the hug.
Nevil, remembering the last time she met someone calling themself “Joan” approaches and spritzes her with Holy Water.
Joan: “What’s that?”
Nevil gives a brief response about the need to be sure that she is who she says she is.
Atalaya makes reservations for the large room and one small room for the night.
While Atalaya is doing this, Nevil is casting Divine Sense to check the alignment of both Seraphina and Joan. She is reassured to get appropriate results for both. (Joan=Good Alignment, Seraphina=Neutral Alignment)
Seraphina asks us how we have been. Atalaya says we need to go upstairs to talk about that. Amid a few questioning looks, we head upstairs to the large room.
Nevil says “I’m going to cast a spell, don’t resist it. We need some truth.” She casts Zone of Truth. Then she asks, “Are you aware there is a mole in Seaton?”
Seraphina answers, “Yes. Captain Ed Calahan ???) is posing as a Harper.
Nevil says, “Sorry. I had to be sure.”
Seaphina tells us about Captain of the Siren. Also about Regus trying to keep Orsino out of the hands of the Thyians.
Seraphina, when asked, says that we can trust Regus to a point. “But don’t trust him implicitly.”
We tell her about our visit with Cirdan and Raven. She notes that the Thayian portals are up.
We mention Cirdan’s question about whether his assistance is needed/wanted. Seraphina says that Cirdan’s skills will be welcome.
Atalaya asks if she has seen Ailwin lately. Seraphina says that she saw him last in Parabor with Frell the half orc druid we have met before. He is well and working on Enclave business.
When asked what is happening in Parabor she says that the cult workings of late are touch and go. She is not sure if the Naga is back but some type of fell influence is present.
We ask Seraphina what her plans are. She says that the meeting tonight at The Lady Luck will determine her plans. She and Joan seem happy to hear that we are planning to be there tonight.
We chat until it is time to head over to the Lady Luck Tavern.
Chapter 3: Meeting at The Lady Luck with a crazy Plan
Curan sees us when we come in and motions us over. Sir Isteval, Purple dragon Knight, Kelson, Shalindra Flosin and Sir Darin Flosin are present. Sir Darfin introduces himself to Nevil and inman. He checks with Atalaya and when Atalaya vouches for the new members he introduces everyone to Inman and Nevil.
Nevil casts Divine Sense on the group. They light up as good. Shalendra is less flaming good than the other.
Isteval: This is… I feel overwhelmed. They are screaming against us. We have a way to do that. … Bloodgate Keep… Ardeep… their portal is there. We have some information…
Jek enters (a tall dwarf) and greets everyone.
Jek: I’m Jek… He motions to a cloaked companion to enter. A human male with Thayain tattoos. He does not glow as good to Nevil’s Divine Sense. He is introduced as Menic and he is a Red Wizard.
Menic says that he is a member of the Thayain Rebellion. Nevil is very upset.
Jek: Hear him out. Hear him out.
Menic explains that the Bloodgate is over an elemental power node. …
Nevil casts Zone of Truth in the room, centered on Menic He does not resist the casting.
Nevil: Are you lying to me?
Menic: No.
Nevil: Are you lying to me on anything?
Menic: No. I am not a man of guile. I will take to my own.
Nevil: Why are you doing this?
Menic: I do not wish to be a thrall. I do not seek the power my superiors do.
Isteval: If this works…
Menic explains that we need to go in? Through? The portal, gab a key. There are 4 Thayian nodes. He says that the nodes must be destroyed. Elemental fuel serves for the nexus… (????)
Nevil: How will we come back (to Riverport)
Menic: I will bring you back.
Nevil: Is this a trap?
Menic: No.
Hadarr: So I have to tell you. I’m an old friend of them. His story checks out. He teleported me into the node. We have a circlet for each team for telepathy.
We talk about teams. It is decided that Curan, Joan, Serephina and Cirilli to be the home team tending to Menic.
They decide to send word to Cirdan to come help.
We will need to leave from here.
We tell them that we need to hold the plan for a bit. We send Menic out for a while and tell the rest that we need to destroy an artifact before destroying the nodes. We get them to agree to give us enough time to destroy the Eye.
