Game Notes 10-1-2025 4th of Eleint, Continued

Chapter 1: Searching the Passages Near the Jail Cell

Inman begins investigating the chamber and corridors. He finds several piles of ash, some old, some newer. He finds human teeth in the ash. There is more ash than can be accounted for by one person. He also notes white ash on the ceiling. It seems like the cremations were dumped down here from holes in the ceiling of the tunnels.

The area where the fight had taken place looks like it was a hang out area or practice area for the cultists.

Boz: Sees a hatch above the ash piles.

Nevil: “You, man. Cultist. What is this?”

Boy: (Fargo) “They throw ashes down those holes.”

Atalaya? “Who?”

Boy: (Fargo) “He’s high. I don’t think anyone is above him.”

Nevil:

Boy: (Fargo) “Do you think they can ___________________. These people don’t play around.

Nevil: “If you have to die, it might as well be on the side of good.”

Boy: (Fargo) This was some dark shit. I don’t know if they are connected to the Red Wizards.

Nevil:

Boy: (Fargo)

Yeda looks like she is in the worst shape of the town folk that had been held captive.

Nevil takes a moment to cure herself.

Atalaya: Casts Cure Wounds on Inman, giving him 12 points of healing.

Having investigated the southern tunnels, the group heads through the north passageway. It opens into an area with several choices. They take the first opening to the left. The adventurers go first, then Sir Vecken who was given charge of The Boy in particular and all the villagers, to keep them together and safe as they follow behind us as we continue to explore the rest of the area and make our way out of the tower.

The passage that has winded its way to the left ends at a door. Boz checks it out for traps and locks. He opens the door. Atalaya looks in. The room has a white blanket spread out on the floor. On it is a pile of bones, some with meat still on them. Along the edges of the blanket are runes written in blood going all around the pile of human remains.

Inman casts Light, allowing the others to see the gruesome pile. He investigates the scene. (Inman receives a whisper, check chat.)

Atalaya stands, her head turned into Boz’s shoulder, as she avoids looking at the piles of human remains any longer.

Inman backs his way out of the room. “It looks like we interrupted a bigger ritual.”

Boz: “Like what?”

Inman: “Something that would need bodies.”

Sir Vecken: “The remains of the family are there and the lost villagers.

Inman goes back to look for signs of family. Sorrow goes with him. They decide that while picking up the pile of remains would not work, it could be dragged. We decide to leave the remains where they are for now. We need to clear the rest of the ruins first. And maybe find a better way to transport the remains out of the tower.

As the others discuss the pile and how to move it, Atalaya goes into the room, pulls out her dagger and cuts off the edges of the blanket removing all the runes. Nevil suggests putting the cut scraps in the corner. Atalaya does that and Inman uses his fire cantrip to burn them.

Chapter 2: Where is Lord Viallis?

As the flames died down and the blanket scraps were turned to ash we head up the stairs in the final part of the corridor, and end up back in the very 1st room. (Chapel room)

As we enter we see Lord Viallis. Atalaya places a Hunter’s Mark on him as he blinks out.

Atalaya hastens to the bench where we had left him and starts searching for him. She hears some breathing and creeps towards the sound.

The presence she is tracking moves across the room and Atalaya follows. Nevil come over and tries to grapple him.

Lord Viallis comes into view, Holds up his hands towards Nevil and fires some magic missiles at Nevil. All three miss Nevil.

Boz: Shoots Lord Viallis in the calf. Lord Viallis falls to his knees.

Sorrow: Runs forward, casts Vicious Mockery. Lord Viallis sinks down into a fetal position, taking 3 points of psychic damage.

Atalaya: Gags Lord Viallis and the others bind him. Once he is gagged, Atalaya blindfolds him.

The walls of this room (chapel room) are carved with horrible undead “crap”. There is a statue and an altar with 2 dead bodies on it. We search the bodies in here and find:

5 gold bracelets

Various trinkets

Inman investigates the altar and statue. He thinks that it looks like they were trying to call something. Atalaya asks him if he thought they were trying to call more Wights.

We check the door at the north end of the chapel. Boz opens it. He looks in and sees a little room with a wooden floor, books, a chair, a globe of light.

Boz calls out, “Inman! Books!”

Inman perks up and makes his way to the room. Searches the room. There is a collection of debased literature including treatises of older gods/goddesses, myths, etc. He does not see the tome that Lord Viallis was searching for. There are some more books and trinkets in the cross space. Inman and Sorrow gather all the books and treatises they find interesting and have Atalaya puts them in the bag of holding. There are some papers on a desk that might be worthless, but we gather them anyway. We also pick up about 50 (wooden) cult symbols.

Chapter 3

Go back to the main entry chamber and then the Wizard’s Room.

Inman, Sorrow and Boz: glowing spheres, 2 drift globes which are cracked and not giving off much light.

Inman thoroughly searches the wizard room. Desk, walls, everything. Sorrow starts messing with the shelf.

Suddenly! The floor falls out and Sorrow and Inman fall through.

Inman takes 7 points of damage from the fall. Sorrow takes 8 points of damage from the fall.

They have fallen 20 feet down into the circular cell room we found downstairs earlier.

Atalaya yells for a rope. But after looking around, Inman and Sorrow decide to walk back up. (the door was opened by Boz earlier when we found the room.)

Nevil is muttering up in the main room where the initial battle had taken place. She is explaining the advantages of Eldath and non-violence to Lord Viallis in hopes of keeping her own temper in control.

Boz searches the rooms. He finds medallions made of gold. In a box on the table he finds a chime device. Atalaya thinks it is a chime door opener similar to what they found in Pelagia. “We’ll take that” she says as she puts it into the bag of holding.

Before Atalaya places the chime in the bag of holding Nevil ritually casts detect magic. The chime lights up.

As everyone continues searching we find papers, diagrams and books. The paper seem to be filled with formulas and schematics. The book looks like a magic book.

Inman and Sorrow work their way back to the wizard’s room. They come through the chamber with the fountain. Sorrow is limping. Inman is rubbing his shoulder.

Sorrow squints at the book we have found. “I think this is it!” he exclaims. Inman hurries over. “You do? …. I think it is!”

Nevil says, “He was looking for it.” (meaning Lord Viallis)

We find a door in the south wall of the Wizard Room. It is an empty closet.

Vaz feels like there is something we are missing.

“Fountain: Blue water, Silver cup there.”

Nevil: sees Divination water in the fountain water.

We get Fargo to tell us about the Fountain. He says that it gives insight. More in tune to things, it sharpens your wits.

We ask him who uses it. He says that Lord Viallis does. When we ask about Faerl, he says that he thinks Faerl has also used it.

Nevil: Moves a bit away from the group. “Come here Fargo.

Fargo? “What?”

Nevil: “I want to talk to you for a minute.”

Fargo: “Alright”

Nevil: Casts Zone of Truth on him and anyone else within its space. She asks Fargo about who uses the fountain. He was not lying before. He is scared. He is rethinking his life.

Fargo: The ritual Room, Something about the idol.

Atalaya: ________________________

Boz: __________ grabs it, cringes, throws his weight into and _____________

Door opens

Dark chamber with table. No sounds. Gold pot or urn sitting on top of a small table.

Nevil: “Mage hand that shit!”

Inman makes his mage hand and picks up the little urn. It may hold about a quart of liquid. It is sealed and feels full. It radiates an aura of necromancy magic.

Nevil: “It’s vile!!”

There are also book cases and scrolls to the south.

Nevil calls Fargo.

We find a journal written in common. It is Lord Viallis’ journal.

Pick up any loot that hasn’t been already recovered.

Each cultist has an amulet (wooden)

Those with helmets have a scimitar

Those with hoods have a dagger and spell components

Nevil writes on the floor in chalk: “Repent!!! Nevil Was Here!”

Nevil takes Boz and Sorrow to retrieve the human remains on the blanket in the lower chamber using a sheet to secure them for the trip back to town.

We head back up to the surface. It is Dawn.

Chapter 4, 5th of Elient

We make our way to a secluded spot and Sorrow makes his Tiny Hut. (Holds Sorrow and 9 others of small to medium size.) We have a total of 12 people + Lord Viallis. (Need to determine how we divide people. Hut spell is canceled if Sorrow leaves it.)

Atalaya gives everyone 2 Goodberries each (Everyone except for Lord Viallis). She makes 10 Goodberries before going into her trance. This a a cold camp with no fires.

In the Tiny Hut: Sorrow, Atalaya, Boz, Fargo, Yaeda, Sir Vekon, + the other 4 surviving villagers.

Outside the Tiny Hut: Nevil and Inman, Lord Viallis (still naked, and bound to Shep and being poked awake and asked crazy questions all night by whoever is on guard duty.

After 4 hours Atalaya comes out of the hut. Inman and Nevil go to sleep, but right near Atalaya. Atalaya continues to keep Lord Viallis awake. It is probably around 10:00 am when Atalaya comes out to watch. At around 2:00 pm the rest of the hut sleepers begin to awaken. Sorrow stays inside until the last of the villagers awakens. Boz will join Atalaya once he is awake and take over tormenting Lord Viallis. Travel rations will be shared with villagers when they wake up.

Around 6:00 pm Nevil and Inman will wake up. We will head towards town and get there about 7:00 pm or maybe a little later.
[End]
